Premiered June 2023 at Longy Divergent Studio, Pickman Concert Hall in Boston, MA.

This miniature was composed during the 24-hour “Divergent Speed” event at the Longy School of Music’s Divergent Studio. The text that I chose to set is a single word—“sweet”—whose relationship to the piece’s title speaks for itself.

Sugar is dedicated to the short-lived Ouroboros (Cailin Smith, Bryce Richardson, and Trent Ice), without whose guidance and generosity I would not have been able to write this piece.
